Today, December 8, 2025, College of Basic education-Amedi/ Social Studies Department held a workshop named (the role of GIS and RS in Geographical Scientific paper)

• An introduction to Geographic Information Systems GIS was presented by (Assistant Lecturer. Sulaiman Zahid Sulaiman).
• The role of RS in geographical research in the Amedi district was presented by (Assistant Lecturer. Radhwan Mikaeel Ameen).

The importance of holding this workshop is that annually, on a global level, many different continents, countries, and regions celebrate World GIS Day, because Geographic Information Systems play a significant role in changing the direction of life. It aims to inform the college staff and students about the importance of the system, as it requires less time, expense, and effort in solving their problems. Therefore, we at the Social Studies Department of the College of Basic Education-Amedi decided to commemorate this day to make the department's staff and students aware of this system and its importance.
